Three matching grants under the Canada 150 Grant program with the Community Foundations of Canada were given out earlier in 2017 to the Rivers Comets (completion of their diamond and grounds); Rivers Minor Hockey (Rivers Jets girls’ hockey team jerseys); and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #75 Legion Ladies Auxiliary (canteen upgrades).

On November 18th, 2015 we held our 6th anniversary granting evening.  A total of $10,524.56 in grants were presented on this evening. The grant recipients were as follows:

On November 19th, 2014 we held our 5th anniversary granting evening. The theme of snowflakes and snowmen was used to identify that just as no two snowflakes are alike neither are two grants.  A total of $21,02.24 in grants were presented on this evening. The grant recipients were as follows:

  • Rivers Collegiate Institute – Wetlands Centre of Excellence – $11,000.00. This last project was one of two strategic projects identified by the Foundation as very important to the community and as such we applied to the Brandon and Area Community Foundation for a grant of $10,000. This money would then flow through the RACF for the outdoor classroom. We were very thrilled to receive this support as it will be a very special place for everyone in the region to go to.

The RACF is very proud to have given back over $68,000 to the community and area over the last 5 years. We look forward to an exciting future developing our community.

On November 6th, 2013 our annual granting evening was held at the Behlen Curling Lounge in the Riverdale Community Centre. The lounge was decorated with the materials from our bountiful fall where $11,000.00 in grants were presented to community groups. Those grant recipients are as follows:

We are proud to announce “The Leonard and Gladys Burt Family Fund” was started this year and our Foundation was the first to respond to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (Manitoba) initiative of placing AED’s in communities.

On November 3rd, 2012 the third annual granting evening was held at the Rivers Legion with the Board of Directors lending a hand with their culinary skills to provide some wonderful desserts with coffee. Local musical talent provided several different selections to keep those in attendance tapping their toes. Those receiving grants on that evening were:

2010 Grant Recipients
In November of 2010 we announced our first grant recipients. The Rivers Elementary Playground Structure Committee (REPS) submitted an application for funding to finish the new play structures for the Rivers Elementary School Grounds. They received a grant of $1,809.15. This completed the money they required to provide new structures for the children of the community and area to use. The Riverdale Community Complex committee submitted an application for funding and received a grant of $10,000.00 towards the construction of a new multi use community complex. This new complex will replace the old recreational facilities in the community and provide opportunities for the generations to come.
